Feature

headless node

The headless node runs a patch on a 64-bit ARM Linux board with no screen, and joins other copies over the network.

Runs on:

  • Raspberry Pi / ARM64 Linux SoC (headless audio node)

The headless node is one program, noise_table_headless. It compiles a patch, opens the sound card directly through ALSA, and joins a desktop copy on the same network, so an edit made on the laptop is heard from the board.

It comes in two builds. The glibc build is the one the appliance image runs. The static musl build is for a board that already runs a distro of your choosing: there are no system libraries to match, only one archive to unpack.

noise_table_headless --check-patch compiles a patch and exits without opening a sound card. Try it on the board first: it tells you whether the patch will run there before anything is plugged in.
